Since 1977, Utah’s Governor has appointed a public college and/or university student to represent Utah students on the state’s Board of Higher Education. Under the new Utah Board of Higher Education, there are now two student members, one representing the state’s degree-granting institutions (research universities, regional universities, and community colleges) and one representing the state’s technical colleges.
Student Board members are voting members and serve at the Governor’s appointment for one year. The student Board member is expected to attend all meetings.
Student body presidents and a student representative from each technical college will vote to select three students as finalists from among the pool of applicants for consideration by the Governor. All applicants will be notified before June 30, 2021.
The deadline to apply for applicants at degree-granting institutions has passed.
If you attend a technical college and still want to apply, you have until the deadline on April 16, 2021.
