510.1 Purpose
To establish a policy on conflicts of interest for the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education.

510.3 Prohibited Conflicts
3.1 Employees are prohibited from acting in their official capacity with respect to any transaction between the Commissioner’s Office and a business entity in which the employee has a substantial interest.
3.2 Employees are prohibited from receiving compensation (beyond their regular salary) as a result of, or in connection with, any transaction between the Commissioner’s Office and a business entity in which the employee has a substantial interest.
3.3 Employees are prohibited from accepting employment or engaging in any business or professional activities which might require them to disclose confidential office information.
3.4 Employees are prohibited from disclosing confidential information acquired by reason of their office position, or from using such information for personal gain or benefit.
3.5 Employees are prohibited from accepting other employment which might impair their independence or judgment in the performance of office duties and responsibilities.
3.6 Employees are prohibited from knowingly receiving, accepting, taking, seeking, or soliciting, directly or indirectly, any gift or loan if it tends to influence the discharge of office duties or responsibilities.
3.7 Employees are prohibited from holding personal investments in any business entity which will create a substantial conflict between private interests and office duties.
